The premise of the project is based on disease and prevention -- mine in particular, was on mold infestation.

How can design be utilized to prevent further damage due to increased mold growth?

Before any design took place, a taxonomy of possible solutions was created. Followed by a series of 100+ sketches of different ideas and concepts.

first prototype

concept: the shoe becomes interchangable into flip-flips

 

 

second prototype

non-removable top that can be snapped back to allow air-flow

 

 

final prototype

removable shoe body made of flexible material that can be changed often throughout the day

body can be un-snapped and zipped completely off the sole of shoe

the two parts can be zipped together to create a tote/sac that can carry the used shoe-tops throughout the day
